Google's Take Your Child to Work Day

I was going to write this last night so it could post early for everyone, but we had our first puppy meeting last night and blogging got lost in the celebration of our first puppy finding her new home. :D

So, a morning put-together it is.

Last week Thursday was Take Your Child to Work Day. Kristoffer works at Google, and the whole family was invited to the activities. It was so much fun and I have a bunch of pictures to show you, too (they're all in small form in the hope I don't overload your browser). :D

The first surprise came a few days before when the boys got their t-shirts. It's an Eric Carle Google Doodle!

   

We kept them a secret from the boys until the day of. When we got there, we hung out at Daddy's work space for a bit, then we were able go to get the boys' work badges for the day and start the fun.

Which was lunch. Mmm, Google lunch, making all Google spouses jealous every day.

  

Then off to the activities room for face painting, balloon animals or swords, crafts including a bowl painted for Action Against Hunger, and a by-request YouTube video wall, for which Joshua chose the Mama Mia song clip from that same-name movie. They even got to plant seeds for Earth Week.

There was also a scavenger hunt at the end, but we didn't end up participating because we needed a badge wielder and Daddy had to finish some work.

In the end, we still came away with some amazing crafts Joshua (mostly) made himself.

And believe it or not, that wasn't all. The boys also got goodie bags. And when we came home, they had even more to play with.

All in all, it was a fantastic day. The boys had a lot of fun and I enjoyed every minute of it. We feel so lucky to be part of the Google family and to be able to take part in events like this.

1) There will be one photo, and five words - both of those elements must be a feature in the brief story you create.
2) There is also a 500 word maximum.
3) You have until the next Wednesday to create your post.
4) When you have finished your post, come back here and link up below and let me (or whoever your blog host is) know in the comments that you have done so!
5) We were going to tell you to not take this too seriously, but reconsidered it because we know full well that asking writers to write something means that they will take it seriously. So, take it seriously, but don't fret/panic/pass out/hyperventilate/lose sleep/run in fear over it.

Family Field Trips: Dinosaurs

A few weeks ago, we took Joshua to Cedar Point. There was a dinosaur exhibit there I thought he would love. He loved the dino dig in the sandbox, particularly since the worker helped him build a sand castle. The flying pterosaurs were cool, the herbivores were okay, but the meat eaters were a bit too scary for him.

Fast forward to a few weeks later to yesterday. There's a dino exhibit not too far from us for the weekend. I decided it would be great to go again. Maybe since he's seen them once, he won't be so scared. He was nervous at first, but quickly warmed up to them now that they weren't hiding in bushes, and there were a lot more kids around excited about them. It was a great idea, and I'm glad we went so he could learn that comfort.

What was that? Why yes, I do have pictures. :) A few, anyway. The kids moved around so fast, there were only so many I could actually capture. There is one other - a green screen photo of us disturbing a T-Rex nest. My mom has that for the moment so she can scan it in. I can try to remember to add it later.

Calling for Image Submissions

We are sending out a huge thank you to everyone who participates in our Wednesday Creative Writing Blog Hop (Or Snapshot Prompt, as I like to call it). Well, we love all things creative and would like to help promote photographers and artists along with our writers. Now, our writers could be photographers, or maybe you photographers would like to take a stab at writing. But first, we need the photos.

All art must owned by you, the submitter, so we can have permission to use the work. It also must be PG13 or we won't be able to post or use it.

Our deadline for photos every week will be Sunday. Starting this Sunday, July 15. You can link up your image (just let us know what it's for) or email it to us. On Sunday, we'll post the artwork or photography and vote! Whoever wins will not only have their photo featured in our Wednesday Snapshot Prompt, but we will also help promote your work by connecting to your blog or website with a button and by offering a guest post/interview spot on the participating co-host blogs (optional for the shy ones).
