Dizzy Me: Medical Update

I know I left you hanging, and I'm so sorry for that. The thing is ... I'm still hanging, too.

Hematologist: What's wrong with you is what's wrong with everyone - you're just more sensitive to it.

Cardiologist: You still have Neurocardiogenic Syncope (diagnosed with at 16 yrs old). Unfortunately, no headway has been made with the disorder since you were first diagnosed. However, as I have vision blackouts, but no actual faints, I show strong signs of having it under control.

ENT: Dizziness is brought on by migraines.

And I refused the medication merry-go-round. I won't do that to myself or my family again if I can help it, and as of right now, I can.

So, I haven't really learned anything new this time around. I am feeling better, though I feel like I can't get my mind focused long enough to really organize anything. I'm trying to stick to the smaller things - they're easier to get a grip on - and to relax as much as possible (which seems to be the one thing all doctors will agree on - rest is the best).

All I can do is keep plugging away and work though those dizzy spells as best I can. Really, it isn't much different from anyone else. :)

  1. I just got treated for vertigo today. Have you looked into that? Sorry - I haven't read the other blogs about this topic, but I thought I'd ask. :)

    1. That's all right. This whole thing has been a process. :) Vertigo has been considered a couple times, but I never quite tested right for it (or anything). Neurocardiogenic Syncope isn't so much a diagnosis by test, but a diagnosis by elimination. It's why I'm fond of challenging it every now and again when I get super dizzy.

  2. Have you tried looking into alternative therapies (like chiropractors, energy medicine, acupuncture, and the like)? When the experts don't know, sometimes a different approach can help.

    1. Liz, I would love to try alternative therapies. I, however, live in the middle of nowhere, so I'm limited to chiropractors - and, unfortunately, they freak me out with all that bone manipulation. I'm trying to talk myself into it with the help of a friend who goes regularly, but I'm having trouble beating the heebie jeebies. :(

  3. Carrie, Well here I am back again (well somewhat) from my leave of absence to deal with our move t Arizona.... Guess there wasn't much headway in the vertigo/dizzy spell/ quasi-fainting (or is it actual fainting) department. That really sucks.

Yeah chiropracters don't appeal to me much either, unless they use something called an activator (I think that's right). It's like a small plunger (best way I can think to describe).... The problem I have with traditional manipulation is I tense up no matter how many times I'm told to "relax" (and even telling myself to relax)..... I had this "activator device used on me once and had no problems..... Course I'm not sure if that would do any good with your particular problem.

    1. I'm glad you're almost settled. :) It will be nice to have you full swing again.

If anything changes health wise, I'll try to remember to update.
